Existence of Castleblayney Poor Law Rate Books?

Post by MarkHenry » Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:54 pm

Hello.

I have just finished reading the contents of the 1847 Castleblaney Poor Law Rate Book as published in the Clogher Record back in 1963. This was a really useful article and I found my wife's g-g-grandfather in there. Now I am interested to find out if the same records have survived for any other year, either earlier or later - can anyone tell me? It would be wonderful to track ownership of the family land (which is the Brennan farm in Maghernakill) before Griffith's Valuation if that was possible.

Thanks for any assistance available,

Mark.

Hello Mark,
Can you look up someone on the Castleblayney poor law rate book? Or let me know where I can read it? Does it just list the head of a household? I'm looking for Patrick Kelly married to Mary Kelly with children Margaret, Hugh, John and more....

Let me know....

Thanks a lot

Jim
